GLASS ROOF BMW !!!

We’ve already seen BMW’s 6 Series Coupe a handful of times and have even driven the new drop-top version. So what’s new with the latest spy photos our friends at Motor Trend captured? A glass roof on the production coupe.

The 6 Series Coupe Concept BMW debuted at the Paris Motor Show last year featured a glass roof to create a more open cockpit and it seems as if that will at least be an option on the production car. There is one minor difference however, in that the concept’s roof was a full-length piece of glass while the see-through top on this car is cut short at the B-pillar.
Seeing the production glass roof makes us wonder if BMW isn’t planning to adopt variable transparency glass for the new coupe, à la Mercedes-Benz’s 2012 SLK or the 2005 Ferrari 575 Super America. This would be a cool feature — literally — especially for those in sun baked climates.
We can basically tell you what the rest of the car will be like after seeing a whole number of spy photos, the production convertible, and previous information from our own Georg Kacher. The engine will be the same twin-turbocharged, 4.4-liter V-8 as in the convertible producing 400 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque coupled to either a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual.
Look for the 2012 BMW 6 Series Coupe to make its debut at the Geneva Motor Show this March
